SparkFun XBee Explorer Dongle

This part acts as the bridge between the other components and your computer. It is a USB dongle where XBee modules can be plugged in. It utilizes an FTDI chip, if you are using Windows, you’ll need to download the driver at the following location:

This part is the radio module itself, which transmits and receives the data. This module is rated at 1 Mbps transmit speed, and maximum outdoor range of a few hundred meters in line of sight, and that maximum range decreases progressively the more objects are in its way, such as walls, trees or geographical features.
